Conservation Technology

Oxygen conserving devices are manufactured using a variety of different technologies. To follow is a brief description of each type.

Electronic
Electronic conservers operate on a battery and use electronic circuitry to measure and deliver a dose of oxygen.

Pneumatic
Pneumatic conservers are strictly mechanical, and are powered by gas pressure in lieu of batteries.

Single-Lumen
Single-lumen conservers are able to sense a breath and deliver oxygen through both prongs of a cannula. While some pneumatic devices fall into this category, all electronic conservers use single-lumen technology.

Dual-Lumen
Dual-lumen conservers use one prong of a cannula to sense inhalation and exhalation, and the other to deliver oxygen.
